‘Artist of the Year’ Competition | Arts Richmond
The Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Julia Cambridge together with the 3 judges; Lisa Woodward of WWT, Beatrice McDermott of Orleans House Gallery, and Leigh Warnick of Leigh Gallery.
Wonderful day for our Director and Founder Leigh Warnick who has been one of the judges for the Richmond ‘Artist of the Year’ Competition, brilliantly organised by Arts Richmond.
The competition, modelled on the popular Sky Arts series ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’, gives artists aged 16+ a chance to create an original work inspired by the scenery and wildlife at the Wetland Centre in just three hours, for the chance to win a series of prizes.
Artists have been around the site creating their masterpieces from 11.30am - 2.30pm, with judging taking place afterwards. Prizes include £250 sponsored by Haynes Fine Art, as well as a one year Wildfowl & Wetland Trust (WWT) membership, offering free entry to all ten UK Wetland Centres and more.
Works created during the competition will also be displayed in the gallery at the Wetland Centre after the competition, from 14th June - 31st August, including works for sale to benefit worldwide wetlands conservation.
The winners are:
1st Prize - Alice Brooks
2nd Prize - Lewis Hazelwood-Horner
3rd Prize - Jo Ellis
Congratulations to the winners and to all taking part.
