Mary Burtenshaw was born in London and studied Fine Art at Norwich School of Art graduating with a Fine Art B.A. (Hons) in 1994.
She has worked in Children’s Publishing for many years, illustrating children’s books and creating innovative novelty formats to educate and entertain kids. East Anglia and the South Coast where she has lived are areas that have greatly influenced her work but travelling also provides inspiration for her landscapes.
She now lives close to London having recently returned to a fine art career and paints dramatic and impressionist landscapes inspired by her love of the countryside, creating the atmosphere and feeling of a place with the use of texture and light depicting a sense of space and mood.
Mary’s work has been exhibited in many leading galleries across England.
