'La Vie En Roses' by Fine-Art Photographer Cristina Schek | Window Display Debut

Delighted to debut ‘La Vie En Roses’ new and exciting Limited Edition series by fine-art photographer Cristina Schek in our new window display this Spring.

Looking for the tension between shadow and highlight, Cristina Schek’s latest work bears reference to her study of Old Masters such as the Italian artist Michelangelo Caravaggio and the Dutch artist Rembrandt.

Characterised by harmony and rich contrasts of colour and texture, the artist’s work is inspired by the theme of vanitas, her still life compositions being viewed as contemplations on the transitory nature of life.

The surreal twist in her work comes from the choice of titles pointing at the contemporary Hollywood cinema and such fantasy masterpieces as David Lynch‘s ‘Twin Peaks’ and Woody Allen’s ‘The Purple Rose of Cairo’.

A few words about Cristina Schek’s choice of frames, mounts and glass we helped her with, at our Framing Studio in Hampton Hill, London.

The artist decided on a combination of golden mount with golden frame that would illuminate the artwork and give it a feeling of basking in the glow of a warm sun. The frames’ gold leaf crackle effect replicate the painterly mood of her artwork and the State of the Art Conservation Anti-Reflective glass is unmatched with its amazing clarity and uncompromising protection.

In our right window we have a new glorious display with fine-art works by Anthony Dyson PhD, RE, Mary Burtenshaw, Sue Roe, Stephanie Wilkinson and Doina Moss RIBA, FRSA who also curated the display with elements of interior design. Come see the details but also the bespoke frames enhancing the works, attention to detail and skill by Leigh.
