“I love my job and I feel very privileged to do so. I took up art about 12 years ago, when I decided to learn to draw and from then on there was no stopping me. After attending many courses, workshops, exhibitions, reading a lot of books, and of course practising, I finally set my sights on Printmaking. I mainly choose to create Monoprints and/or Collagraphs . Monoprints create the painterly look I like and Collagraphs provide the texture and structure which pulls the print together.
Like a lot of Printmakers I enter my work into Open Submissions, in the hope they get selected for exhibitions/prizes and recognition by my peers. You have to be prepared for a lot of rejection and just keep on trying. My time finally came in 2021 when 3 of my prints were selected for the Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers International Exhibition, held at Bankside Gallery, London. To have one print selected would have been amazing, but 3 was mind blowing. I kept checking the email, to be sure I had not imagined it. I’ve come a long way, and continue to enjoy the versatile medium of printmaking.
I’m looking forward to future challenges and opportunities.” Sue Roe
