Book Author: Painting Album "Metamorphosis", 2017

We are delighted to welcome Alexandra to our gallery, where she can present a capsule of her latest works, oil on canvas. Alexandra is a very accomplished artist with an architectural background, an art historian and art critic. It is difficult to select a chapter from her vast portfolio but the current exhibition will focus on her latest preoccupation with biodiversity.

Alexandra Teaca is the author of several hundred of paintings in oil on canvas, watercolor or pencil graphics, grouped on different themes and projects. Her paintings reveal certain truths or experiences that are revealed through forms and colors but also by the presence of imaginary worlds, still undiscovered, offering the possibility of probing the human introspection and sensibility.

"BETWEEN BIODIVERSITY & BIOMORPHISM"

in the light of the imminent climate change

Woman protecting the Biodiversity

Woman protecting the Biodiversity

Represents the illustration of the metamorphosis of all things belonging to nature and a new vision that expresses the beauty and fragility of the world in which we live.

The paintings, directed towards the freedom of color and the simplification of forms, are an attempt to search for the essence which can distinguish between good and evil, influence the thinking on certain important aspects of reality.

Through painting, the intention is to bring to light the spectacular experiences of the humanity, to suggest the possibility of the existence of parallel worlds and to draw attention to the ephemeralness of the human condition and nature.

THE GOAL

To draw attention to the dangers that affect nature, its ephemeral condition as well as the depth and sensitivity of the human soul.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • art has its own means of communication, changing human behaviours and mentalities and ultimately  saving the Earth.

  • to understand, to show the weaknesses of the Earth's biodiversity and the continuing threats posed by human intervention on nature.

  • to emphasise the important role of painting, as a process of reporting and preventing the destructive effects of nature produced by human actions and activities: floods, fires, deforestation, landslides, global warming, nuclear wars, etc.

  •  the paintings are grouped on different themes or projects, using clear and innovative shapes and colours, trying to bring to light hidden truths, meditate on the beauty of nature and explore the depths of the human soul.

THE ARTIST’S MESSAGE

The believe that there has always been a special connection between the creator of art and nature, better said between the person destined to represent or expresses the nature or much of the beauty and complexity of things that surround it and the same life-giving nature, species-bearers, maker of things impossible to imagine. Without this connection, without the love of nature, the artist would not have existed as an artist, in the sense that he would not have had what to represent a long period of time when that the emphasis was on the representation of nature, figurative painting, until the appearance of abstract art, non-figurative, giving voice to the expression of the inner human feelings.

Therefore, since ancient times, there has been a rapprochement, a stronger connection between the creator of art and the surrounding nature, a fact which has transformed the artist into a strong person and primarily responsible for everything that happens in nature or in connection therewith.

Perhaps not accidentally the painters, artists have some extrasensory qualities, can predict, visualise, interpret certain signs about the Universe, communicate about certain discoveries or deciphers that are behind the visible things. That is why artists can act directly, from sign to sign, they can intervene in the symbolism of things, they can change, they can intervene in realm through the power of thought, its significance, especially through its unique way of expression. We are in a moment of history where the nature, the biodiversity is in a real impasse.

I believe that the time has come when the role of painters and artists is to signal the dangers of the earth and life on Earth, starting with the lack of food, vegetation, fauna and flora, then with the growth of widespread drought, floods or natural disasters, such as fires, landslides, massive deforestation and the uncontrolled exploitation of resources.

I believe that we must be responsible for the continuity of life on Earth and draw attention to the fact that the appearance and increase of devastating meteorological phenomena for humanity (storms, tornadoes or hurricanes) are the result of continuous changes and dangerous and uncontrolled actions of man on nature , which have already led to the emergence of global warming phenomenon, climate and living conditions change on the Earth, with serious impact on biodiversity.

Through painting, we try to signal the similarities that exist in nature, which reflect from one species to another, by accrediting forms from the vegetal or animal world, taking over not only in real life, but also at the level of the construction of organic architecture, which is based on biomorphism (inspiration from biological shapes), bionic (the inspiration for functions that biological organisms develop) and biomimetism (which combines both bio-morphism and bionics, and which proposes development models in accordance with our biosphere, or inspired by this natural mimicry and natural ecosystems).

Therefor in painting (as well as in in architecture), we are trying to show this parallelism that exists between the represented object and the biological organism from which inspiration originates.

Alexandra Teaca's paintings are endowed with a personal touch and reflect her inner feelings by illustrating not only the perceived reality but also the metamorphosis of things, the dilution of space and time and a new vision of the continuous changes of nature. Her paintings are exhibited in private collections and institutions in Europe: Brussels, Paris, London, Rome, Vienna, Rotterdam, Catania, Zurich, Helsinki, Bucharest; as well as further afield in Dubai, the United States and Canada.

Our exhibition will showcase only a few paintings from Alexandra’s vast portfolio and we are expanding the examples in our blog.

"The painting of Alexandra Teaca offers a gateway to the sensible, spiritual world, that is, an extension of the vision of the eye with a vision of the spirit, through which the material covering of things is pierced and thus the reading or partial decipherment of the meaning of the painting is achieved."

Editor  Cosmin Comarnescu

"Painting seems to be the figurative slope of Alexandra Teaca's attempts to find out the defining contents of his own existence. We recognize in her paintings various themes, various stylistic influences - of which the artist seeks the clearest configurations, the most dense organizations. (...) Alexandra Teaca's painting is eclectic. You acknowledge symbolic, expressionist allusions ... Cubist quotations are more direct. Often, between the main shape and the edges seem to have more frames, the prime effect being to push the shape to the viewer. This easy-going visit of several manners refreshes the ways in which Alexandra Teaca seeks a stylistic definition "

Prof. dr. Costin Popescu

Expanding beyond Biodiversity, Alexandra tackled a variety of other topics.

"Painting is not only the expression of images of the reality experienced, but also a way of escape from reality, of creating imaginary worlds capable of dialogue in time, of producing effects in the future or of revealing certain sequences of the past. Without painting, mankind would be deprived not only of information baggage or the tumultuous images of history, but also of pure expression from the souls of artists, the only ones able to recreate the world through their works. "

Surprising landscapes impress with warm colours and fine colour tones, which, by overlapping, create a relaxed atmosphere from an unreal world enveloped by a special luminosity and in which there is a certain melancholy of the space represented.

"The author makes us realize that his pictorial work, albeit somewhat" timeless ", can still be stylistically framed in the valuable tradition of the Romanian interwar painting, a tradition in which they have made a sensible contribution and major names of the Romanian architecture such as Gheorghe Simota and GM Canatacuzino ".

Prof. dr. arhitect Sorin Vasilescu

"Alexandru Teacă's painting is a" great pictorial unit, obviously because of the unbroken palette through pauses and keeping in the retina of what is called the first impression, the secret of the word: It always returns to the first impression. "
